there's a Rule

there's an unwritten rule
in marketing:

the last thing you lower is your price.

there's an unwritten rule
in life:

the last thing you lower is your reputation.

trouble is, you happen to have nothing else to lower,
even your pride. and reputation being the last thing left.

um, you lower it.
ha! pretty pretty, noh?

but it is not that pretty every morning, in between lessons or right after dusk.
not pretty at all. at any given time. i should know.

but before you call me the guy who wallows in self-pity and self-contempt, i suggest you don't think twice about it. go ahead! wahehe just kidding.

in my philosophy class today,
we talked about that element of psyche, or the soul, called reason
and how wisdom would mean you have achieved arete, or excellence for that element.
[i don't exactly know how you phrase it in english]

in my theology class today,
we talked about how the Jews misunderstood the message of God.

in my marketing class today,
we talked about how we could help the Manila Zoo.

there's an unwritten rule
in dealing with karL:

the last thing you ask
is the point.

so many things to say

because there have been
so many thoughts to ponder
so many sights to see
so many ideas to share
so many things to do
so many lives to spare
so many interests to pursue
so many goodies to eat
so many gifts to unwrap
so many friends to meet
so many places to explore
so many feelings to feel

so many.
so many lives to spare.

record low

don't get me wrong,
i love a lot

but it sometimes helps to sulk
than to not.

mister mystery

it's nice to have a little mystery every now and then

though the truth is
there's always a little mystery every now and then

i needed this break.
more than i needed my routine of eating pusu or mongo bread every time i am here in cebu
or my sorry-me-if-i-lose-it-again mobile phone
or my figuring out of what to do next.

I don’t know what’s gonna happen
That’s alright with me
I open up my arms and I embrace the mystery
-Just for Today, India Arie

"embracing the mystery," damn.
sounds a lot easier than it really is.

and though being with family
with someone special
with your good old high school friends
or even with the dead

really really helps
there is still a little something about that little mystery
that makes you want to know for certain
whether you really do want to embrace it.

knowing for certain?
we know we never will.
and so we embrace
and we stick our noses up and pray
and we eat as much as we can
and we suspend judgment

and we hug and kiss like there's no tomorrow.
lisnin to The String Quartet
sortof readin Mitch Albom's For One More Day, best of the three
feelin kinda awwwww-ful. which is a very good feeling.

Just for today
I will not worry what tomorrow will bring, no
I’m gonna try something new and walk through this day
Like I’ve got nothing to prove,
Although I have the best intentions
I can't predict anyones reactions
So I’ll just do my best
I'll put one foot in front of the other
Keep on moving forward
And let God do the rest
-India Arie
