movie-ng On

i said i'll wake up at 7am today. i did, but i went back to sleep. i said i'll go join the gawad kalinga news bureau immersion trip. i didn't, and now i have to wait for my 7pm playshop rehearsals [turns out we got a session tonight and tomorrow]. watodo? watodo?

we watched sideways again last night, and my tita couldn't stand it. my brother and she both said it was real boring. considering all the buzz surrounding that movie, you couldn't blame them. but it wasn't that bad, certainly better than closer or the aviator.

also watched life as a house and it certainly was good. the guy who plays anakin is in there, i heard this was the movie that gave him the anakin role for star wars. 'cause in this one, he plays another angry teenager. kevin kline was really good here too and the story was funny and light and all the messages expressed in such a subtle manner you don't feel guilty or worrisome, just moved. i must say the movie's story is close to that of my grandfather's who recently passed away. he used to dream of a house, and he saw it being built, he dies of cancer, he's got some problems but seems to handle them really well. only that his life had less regrets and less bitter moments. i remember seeing the scaled-down model of his dream house that he built himself, i was five then. the tiny doors and windows would open and it was all made of wood and some glue. hi tay, how's heaven?

after the movie, i went to school for mr80% callbacks. kenneth and shark and ren and pineds and pao and andrei were really funny doing the sam and jan and leslie scenes. kakki and alli [?] were really cute too carrying the ronnie and patricia roles. we were laughing our hearts out at the galian room. the script of that play is really good, no wonder blue rep is doing it again. you guys all watch it. i think i'll be helping with the tickets if things push through. mr. 80%, a straight play about being straight, gay, bi and straight again. i think.

back to movies. there was phantom and chicago, now they are turning 3 more musicals into movies. one is the producers. this one i wanna see, nathan lane [timon] plus matthew broderick [simba] plus mel brooks [robin hood: men in tights], all in one show. i think. another is hairspray, but i haven't heard much about it, i don't know what it's about. i only heard of one song, the song blue rep sang during it's general assembly last year. and this one i just read minutes earlier- dreamgirls. beyonce plus jamie foxx plus usher, all in one movie-musical. plus the guy who brought chicago to the big screen is directing it. i don't know if dreamgirls is good though, i heard it's about diana ross' the supremes but beyonce and foxx and usher? singing and dancing and acting in one show. okay.

i'm starting to forget of johnny depp's charlie and the chocolate factory already, but i won't. and revenge of the sith is coming out next week. all this year lacks is one good pinoy movie, but i heard the guy who did the crying ladies [fave fave] will do another new movie. my fingers are crossed.

my 1yo cuzn, miguel, is leaving for thailand tonight with his mom, my tita. i'm gonna miss them. he has been bugging me to play throw-and-catch-the-toy-lion game with my bro kit and him while i type this. he is so cute. i'll share a pic of him sometime.
