reading | watching

was reading another shel silverstein book at shang's national bookstore a day ago and found out that shel silverstein is actually a guy. shel is a he.

twas called "the giving tree". about a tree who gives everything and seemingly gets nothing in return. i love it how mr. silverstein writes his books. short enough to be read at some bookstore, simple enough to be understood by kids, deep enough to be enjoyed by my mother, well-illustrated enough to be opened by my brother and the baklayberx. he wrote "the missing piece meets the big O" too.

read it both, u guys. it's like "hope for the flowers", only less didactic. to think yellow the caterpillar's story wasn't moralizing already... but you'll get my point when you read all three.

was watching Ray! before sleeping, third time. but i was friggin moved again, i don't know why. just a beautiful beautiful film. and not just because of jamie foxx. the rest of the cast gets little credit but they were really really good too. u watch it again and you see something new, you hear something new, you realize something new. and you don't even have to. it's got a really heavy story with some really low lows of somebody's life and yet you feel good even if all the credits went up, and the player is turned off.

makes me wana watch "the crying ladies" again.
